The management at First Coast News was in need of an update to their newsroom. They were looking to completely change the vibe of the room by redoing the entire color scheme. The old colors were a mixture of 
blues, grays and reds. When it came time to select a painting contractor, they needed a company that could work around the hustle and bustle of a working newsroom. The walls and soffits that needed to be painted were located near or above workstations. The pole structures scattered throughout the room were also positioned right next to the producer/reporter desks. The last wall to be painted was located on the main staircase, which sees a lot of foot traffic throughout the day. In the end, Performance Painting was selected to complete the task due to our ability to work around both the schedule and frenzy that is a news station.
The first step taken in completing this project was to schedule which parts of the newsroom were to be painted in the proper order to ensure we were not in the way of the staff. For example, our employees needed 
to be painting the areas that were empty while the morning crew were in, and then switch to that area once
they were replaced by the day crew. The team was also diligent in completing tasks during the weekend when the newsroom was not as staffed as it is during the week. Once the schedule was worked out, the crew set out to protect all furniture, floors and fixtures in their work area and began to patch and sand the walls prior to painting.
There were three different colors of Sherwin Williams SuperPaint Satin applied to the walls, columns and soffits. Due to colors chosen, the team had to apply three coats to each surface that they were painting. The three colors that were chosen by the station were yellow and blue for the soffits and walls, while gray was used for the support poles and columns throughout the newsroom. The team was proud to change the look of the First Coast newsroom and look forward to it lasting
for years to come.
